Services at The Courvilles:

During any rehabilitation stay or visit, you can rest assured that along with the needed therapy, you or your loved one is receiving 24-hour nursing support from our skilled and compassionate staff.

Assisted Living blends the comfort of home with advanced 24/7 nursing care and assistance.

We understand that this is a decision requiring much thought and that comes with many questions. If you are unsure about the level of assistance that you or a loved one may require, we encourage you to take a tour of our centers and sit down with our licensed case workers who will be able to answer the questions you have about long-term care.

Rest assured knowing that our centers have a medical director who is happy to assume new patients, if your current physician does not wish to continue providing care.

Assisted Living at The Courvilles encourages independence, yet provides assistance on an as-needed basis. Our assisted living centers are designed for individuals who can no longer safely live alone, but seek the comforts of home. Residents in assisted living receive a combination of residential support services, healthcare and nursing services.

At The Courvilles, we have continually made improvements to our assisted living program since first offering it decades ago. We have built our success on being the place for families to turn to when it’s time to consider contemporary options for a healthier, safer, and less-isolated living arrangement.

In our smaller, home-like centers, our residents and their families feel safe, cared for and comfortable. These centers have been designed to feel like home and also have all of the services and amenities needed for the day-to-day activities of our residents. Whether it’s because of our award-winning dining experiences, enjoyable programs and activities, resident-centered nursing care, on-site therapy services, or social activities, our assisted living centers appeal to many. Assisted living residents also have access to on-site physical, occupational and speech therapy.

A licensed nurse is in the building at all times, with support from nurses aides and other ancillary staff. All members of the nursing staff are licensed and in good standing with the state of New Hampshire Board of Nursing, and many are certified in memory care. The passionate and dedicated teams provide the best possible care for the best health outcomes.

Long-term Care A long-term stay can bring peace of mind, it may be the right answer for those individuals needing constant and consistent care because they are unable to care for themselves and/or their family is either unable to safely care for them or is unavailable to provide care. Often a medical emergency or event determines an individual’s need to be placed in long-term care.

Some warning signs that you or a loved one may soon need long-term care include:

  •   The inability to perform daily living tasks, such as personal grooming or meal preparation

  •   The inability to manage personal finances responsibly

  •    Physical or financial difficulty in caring for a home or apartment

  •    Loneliness and lack of socialization due to isolation

Courville’s long-term care residents are cared for by a team of nurses, dietitians, therapists, activity coordinators, and other friendly faces.

Rehabilitation Services can help you or a loved one with additional care or therapy when recovering from surgery, an illness, an accident, or other obstacles. A short-term stay in a sub-acute (skilled nursing facility) setting provides the necessary care to aid recovery. Through a combination of nursing, therapy, dietary, and other services, short-term rehab is often the key to a successful return home following a hospital stay. Rehab Therapy is available seven days a week.

We understand that this is a decision requiring much thought and that comes with many questions. If you are unsure about the level of assistance that you or a loved one may require, we encourage you to download this brief questionnaire about Measuring Assistance Needs. We also encourage you to take a tour of our centers and sit down with our licensed case workers who will be able to answer the questions you have about long-term care.

Rest assured knowing that our centers have a medical director who is happy to assume new patients, if your current physician does not wish to continue providing care.

Nursing Services are offered 24/7 by our professional nursing staff with the goal of returning each person to his or her highest level of functioning. Nursing is provided throughout the day and night by licensed and sensitive nurses who are committed to HumanKindness.

Physical Therapy is offered to those who need assistance in regaining physical strength, balance and coordination. Some also may receive aid in fall prevention, caring for wounds and other special needs.

Speech Therapy is often needed by those who have suffered a temporary illness, such as a stroke or seizure. Speech therapy includes relearning how to speak, relearning how to swallow, regaining memory, and improving problem solving.

Occupational Therapy is part of the therapy plan for those who are seeking assistance in maintaining some or all of their independence by regaining the ability to perform daily tasks such as dressing, cooking, laundry, and ironing, as well as light cleaning activities.

Memory/Dementia Care delivered with empathy and compassion. We provide fully integrated memory care in the least restrictive environment possible. We operate under the guiding principle that everything we do is designed to enhance the lives of our residents. Generations, a geriatric psychiatric group affiliated with the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, provides oversight of the care of our memory-impaired residents and visits each center weekly to see patients.

Dementia-specific programming allows our residents to live in the “here and now,” giving them a positive experience.  Specific programs designed for our memory-impaired residents include:

  • Respiratory Therapy addresses cardiopulmonary diseases and conditions by designing a specific treatment plan to return each person to his or her optimal pulmonary function while promoting an understanding of the disease process.

  • IV Therapy is often the fastest route to deliver medications and fluids throughout the body. The nursing staff in our skilled nursing centers is trained to provide intravenous therapy.

  • Validation Therapy was developed by Naomi Feil and is for older people with cognitive impairments and dementia. This practice encourages our staff to listen with empathy, which helps in reducing anxiety and enhances dignity.

  • Reminiscent Activities draw attention to the long-term memory by utilizing song, picture books, puzzles, drawings and more.

  • Therapeutic Recreation supports the mental and physical health of all our residents and includes walking group, exercise groups, art, music and other individualized therapies.

  • Support Groups are vital to the success of our care. Our support groups are designed to provide education, guidance and a network to help guide family and friends through the progression of the disease. Contact our facilities for the dates of our next groups.

  • Medical Care in addition to traditional bedside medical care, our nursing staff prides itself on its ability to carefully provide secure medication distribution/management, as well as wound therapy, and mobility assistance to our residents, when needed.

We enjoy relationships with area hospitals who provide on-site services from doctors and specialists who are expert at senior care. Through scheduled visits and specific calls for attention, these doctors work with our Nursing Supervisor to provide 24/7 coverage of care.
